Mission Statement

The aim of Faith in Schools is for every child in Newham’s primary schools to have the opportunity to meet, in their RE lessons, local Christians and discover what it means to be a Christian in the 21st century. In Newham we have 25% of teachers being Newly Qualified every year, and 40% of teachers leaving our schools, this means that expertise in terms of Religious Education knowledge can be very low, and lead to children knowing very little about the Christian faith.  This also means there is a lack of continuity that children would experience in other areas of the country from teachers being at their schools for there time there, in Newham generally the population is very transient.  Faith in Schools seeks to be a regular presence in a primary school, giving this sense of belonging and being known to Newham primary schools children.
