Schools Worker Canning Town, Custom House

Originally from South West London I've been teaching in schools and colleges for seventeen years, having held roles in curriculum and pastoral management. My passions are music, theology, and youth. I serve as the Worship Leader and co-lead a youth ministry at Trinity Vineyard Church in South East London.

In 2017 I sensed God agitating me to leave teaching and pursue a calling to something new and exciting. With the opportunity to meet the Faith in Schools team, I was fortunate to witness the high quality of the sessions and the building of positive relationships with young people, schools and churches. Moving forward as the new Manager, FiS gives me cause for expectation to see God's great plan for Newham play out.

I am from a lovely little place called Walthamstow, you might have heard of it! I worship with St Luke’s in the High which meets at the Farmers’ Market and café’s in Walthamstow. I enjoy the Lego Movies, anything Superman related and rollercoasters.

I come to Faith in Schools with over 30 years of experience. I am a highly skilled and caring youth worker who is genuinely interested, passionate and committed to seeing children and young people reach their potential. I love to tell children the stories of Jesus, share why I believe in God and introduce them to the God I know and love.

I long to see the church playing an active role in the lives of the children and young people in their area and not just those who come in to our churches. I am very excited to join in with what God is already doing in Newham.

Schools Worker Forest Gate

Hello! It’s been a privilege to work for the charity since 2013 and I have lived in Newham since 2002. I am a qualified Early Years and Primary Teacher. I’ve enjoyed every minute of working out loving my neighbours – giving children, families and school staff the chance to explore Christianity using my 23 years classroom experience. My family belongs to the Stratford Salvation Army’s Messy Church team and also St John’s Church, Stratford.

I lived my whole life in south-west London until 3 years ago and now I consider myself an East London girl. I absolutely love living in Newham; it's vibe, it's energy and the diversity of people, it just makes my heart sing!

My background is in performing arts, drama, singing and film which are all still very much a passion of mine and coming into a teaching job I can draw on my experiences as a performer; teaching children and having them engage is an art form 😉.

About 3 years ago my friend told me about this job position coming up in Faith in schools as I read the job description I was overwhelmed with excitement and joy, I couldn't believe that this charity existed, I got to be with children and teach them about my faith in Jesus, result I'd say. God has always given me a heart for youth and young children and working with Faith in schools he continues to grow it. It is a pleasure working with this team and with the local churches and volunteers around Newham and I hope we can continue from anymore years.

I have lived in Newham for most of my life. I now attend St. Marks Church in Forest Gate but previously was at Pilgrims Way in East Ham. I came to learn about Faith in Schools through my children who Alice has taught and how much more exciting the lessons were than normal.  So I started to volunteer and saw and experienced the impact that can be made with children when the topic is taught with enthusiasm, love and understanding.

When the vacancy arose for the Administrator I felt that God was calling me to help give back to Faith in Schools.  Even though I am now mainly working behind the scenes you will still occasionally see me appear to help where I am needed to keeping everything flowing smoothly.
